The Requirements Definition of History: How a 19th-Century Producer Built a Blueprint for the Future
Subtitle: What a 400-year-old Ginkgo tree and a disappointing apartment wall in Akasaka teach modern professionals about shifting to the "Investor OS" via Generative AI

1. Introduction: The Splendid Akasaka Sky and the "Wall" in Front of Us
Between the sophisticated buildings of Akasaka, the strong early summer sunlight beats down. Cheetah, wiping away sweat in his tight navy suit and holding an energy drink in one hand, stares at the white tiled wall of a modern apartment building. Beside him, Rachel, perfectly dressed in a high-quality slim-fit suit, gazes intently with her cold, ice-blue eyes at a silver plate embedded in the wall: "Former Residence of Katsu Kaishu."

About a 7-minute walk from Akasaka Station on the Tokyo Metro Chiyoda Line, we are standing in front of the site of Katsu Kaishu's former residence. On the wall of an ordinary apartment building, there is nothing more than a simple monument and an explanatory plate. Located at a three-way intersection, cars and people simply pass by this spot. It is as if no one cares that this was the stage for a figure who drastically changed Japan's modern history.
Cheetah laments. "Rachel, we’re finally here! This is the site of the residence where Katsu Kaishu spent his most glorious 9 years, from age 36 to 45. This is where he met Sakamoto Ryoma, crossed the Pacific on the Kanrin Maru, and held negotiations for the bloodless surrender of Edo Castle... It’s truly the holy ground of Japan's modernization! ...Or so it should be, but this is just an ordinary apartment wall, right? Honestly, it’s a huge letdown. It’s as disappointing as the feeling that my salaryman career has hit a dead end."
Rachel smiles coolly. "Hehe, as always, you’re letting yourself ride an emotional rollercoaster based purely on outward 'appearances,' Cheetah. True, as a physical ruin, it’s just a wall. But if you can't see through the structural distortion of this place and the historical 'requirements definition' that Kaishu set up, you’ll never be able to escape the cages of the corporate zoo."

2. The "Mechanism" That Produced Modern Japan
Katsu Kaishu loved the Akasaka area and lived in three different locations throughout his life, but the period spent here at the "Moto-Hikawa Residence" was the maximum output period of his life. The 400-year-old ginkgo tree at Akasaka Hikawa Shrine must have been watching over him.
Why did everything begin from this place that appears to contain nothing? It is because, while being inside the existing system (organization) of the "Shogunate," Kaishu understood the "macro-perspective of the great shift of the era" outside of it better than anyone else.
At that time, ever since the arrival of the Black Ships in 1853, the philosophy of "Sonnō Jōi" (Revere the Emperor, Expel the Barbarian) was raging across the world. Sakamoto Ryoma, a samurai from the Tosa domain, along with Chiba Jutaro, the son of the Chiba Shusaku Dojo, came to this very location with a fierce intent to kill, seeking to deliver "divine punishment" upon the Westernized Kaishu. The path they walked through (or came down) while harboring that murderous intent was the nearby "Moto-Hikawa Hill." Kaishu confronted Ryoma's murderous intent head-on, presented the "overwhelming primary information" of the global situation, and instantly turned him into a disciple (an ally). This action taken by Kaishu, a Shogunate official, toward a low-ranking pro-imperial activist from an outside domain (essentially, a cocky low-level employee from a countryside company), was an incredibly open-minded attitude that would have been impossible considering the caste system and the friction tied to the Tosa region at the time, and it deeply moved Ryoma.
It is not about fighting desperately with a sword. It is about presenting an overwhelming benefit to the opponent by engaging with the world, and aligning mutual goals with the public interest (Japan's modernization, or "win-win-win-win"). This is exactly how a true producer conducts a deal (negotiation). Ryoma’s subsequent achievements in the Kairentai and the movement toward the Restoration of Imperial Rule would have been impossible without Kaishu's guidance and support.

3. The Wealthy OS Behind the "Disappointing Tourist Spot"
Most people pass by, thinking "there is nothing here." However, the mind of a wealthy investor operates differently. Here, instead of a tangible palace, Kaishu was creating a true asset that would put cash into his pocket—namely, a unique doctrine called the "grand design of Japan's future" and the network to move it.
Physical buildings vanish with inflation and the passage of time, but the mechanism he built (the Roman aqueduct) remained in history.
In the modern era, the ultimate weapon to become a "mechanism owner" like Kaishu is Generative AI (Caesar's Legions). Is it fine to remain on "Path 1 (Getting a Job)," where you submit your resume to a company and desperately fulfill your assigned role? Or will you move to "Path 3 (Owning Assets)," where you lead AI as the ultimate employees who never complain, create a philosophy with your own brain, and own the mechanism?
Just as Kaishu took a gamble on crossing the Pacific with a do-or-die attitude, whether you have the courage to start building your own small digital assets with about 60% to 70% of breathing room becomes the divergence point to break through to the other side of the mirror (a world that requires no salary).

4. Conclusion: The Hill of Divine Punishment and the Storm of Manual Checking
"I see...!" A sharp light returns to Cheetah's eyes. "Kaishu didn't create a physical house; he created an asset that served as the infrastructure to move Japan. I'm sorry for calling it a disappointing tourist spot. I'm going to stop sucking up to my company, hold the sword of AI prompts to my chest, and run up this Moto-Hikawa Hill to build my very own digital empire!"
At that exact moment, Rachel's smartphone rang coldly. Checking the screen, she delivers the ultimate alert.
"Wonderful determination, Cheetah. As a first step to becoming a man who moves the era like Kaishu, a fitting challenge (ordeal) has just arrived from the god of the universe. An urgent message from your company’s international logistics department. A major overseas client staying at a luxury hotel in Akasaka has sent a fierce invoice demand (divine punishment), requiring a revised proposal for the reconciliation of customs data for the past three years by tomorrow morning. 1,200 items of manual double-checking. Since there is no such thing as free work in life, why don't you hurry up, run down the hill in that tight suit, and head back to the office?"
"What?! 1,200 items of manual checking?! That's scarier than Ryoma's intent to kill! I have to make AI write a Python script for reconciliation automation right now! Master Kaishu, Mr. Ryoma, please save me before divine punishment hits my stomach!"
Dropping his shoulders in despair and turning pale, Cheetah begins hammering away furiously on his tablet. Watching him go, Rachel sips her tea coolly as the curtain falls.
