1. The Ruins of Youth Sleeping in the Heart of the City

The area around Tokyo Station, spanning from Yaesu to Kyobashi, is currently in the midst of massive redevelopment. Giant cranes cover the sky, and modern office buildings tower above. Chita, an office worker at Japan's largest international logistics company, let out a voice of surprise as he looked up at "Tokyo Square Garden," a commercial facility directly connected to the subway Kyobashi Station.

To think that the place where Sakamoto Ryoma—who fundamentally changed Japan's modern history through events like the Return of Political Power to the Emperor and the Satsuma-Choshu Alliance—spent his youth is right in the middle of such a metropolis.

Rachel, a snow leopard walking gracefully, explained. "This is the site of Sadakichi Chiba's Hokushin Itto-ryu dojo, commonly known as the 'Ko-Chiba Dojo.' It might seem like a disappointing landmark with just a signboard standing alone in the office building district, but it is a historical crossroads where Ryoma sweat and trained."

2. Swordsmanship Training and an Attack Driven by Youthful Folly

In the 6th year of Kaei (1853), Sakamoto Ryoma, a samurai of the Tosa domain who went to Edo for swordsmanship training, enrolled in this Sadakichi Chiba dojo. Sadakichi was the younger brother of Shusaku Chiba, the founder of the Hokushin Itto-ryu style, and was a master swordsman who opened the Ko-Chiba Dojo himself after contributing to the prosperity of his brother's Genbukan. At the time, Sadakichi was serving the Ikeda family of the Tottori domain, so it is said that Ryoma trained hard under Sadakichi's son, Jutaro Chiba. He likely spent a fulfilling youth together with Sanako, a beautiful and talented female swordswoman known as the 'Demon Beauty of Chiba,' and others. Naturally, there were no commercial facilities lined with stylish restaurants like today on the paths where Ryoma and Sanako walked in those days.

In Edo at the end of the Edo period, there were the "Three Great Dojos of Edo": the Genbukan of Hokushin Itto-ryu, the Shigakukan (Momoi Dojo) of Kyoshin Meichi-ryu, and the Renpeikan (Saito Dojo) of Shinto Munen-ryu, where patriots who would later change history, such as Kogoro Katsura and Hanpeita Takechi, honed their skills. Amidst the turbulence following the arrival of Perry's Black Ships, the energy of hot-blooded youths filled the streets of Edo.

As the storm of the "Revere the Emperor, Expel the Barbarians" (Sonno Joi) movement raged, hot-blooded youths resorted to radical actions. Jutaro and Ryoma, fuming to "bring divine justice to the Western-infatuated," attacked the residence of Katsu Kaishu in Akasaka. They surely had no idea that this reckless act, aimed at assassination, would fundamentally change Japan in the future.

3. A Way of Life that Attracts Unpredictable Opportunities

Ryoma's trajectory is the very embodiment of the "Laws of the Universe." He did not make meticulous plans with a desperate effort to "accomplish the Return of Political Power to the Emperor" right from the start. Success unexpectedly flies in from unpredictable places.

Having entered enemy territory for the purpose of assassination, he was overwhelmed by the sheer scale of Katsu Kaishu and volunteered to become his disciple on the spot. It is exactly this series of "giving it a shot with nothing to lose" actions that moved history. This is proof that hints for life are hidden precisely in crises and unexpected extreme situations.

👉The Place Where Ryoma and Katsu Kaishu Met

This also perfectly aligns with the way of life as a modern business owner or wealthy investor. Instead of clinging to the initial scenario you thought up in your head, you jump on unexpected opportunities that appear before you with a 60-70% margin of leeway and the heart of a child. Enjoying the process, rather than trying desperately hard, is an essential condition for success.

Even if the city's scenery transforms from Edo to modern redeveloped building complexes, the essence of success remains the same. Rather than simply preserving old methods, it is necessary to update your tools to fit the times. A person can succeed within the abilities they currently possess, and no new, special talents are needed. If you just enjoy what you want to do and have the "Shiho-yoshi" (good for all four sides) spirit of letting others benefit, what you give will return to you more than twofold from somewhere else. It is exactly this flexible mindset and ability to take action that builds the network (Roman aqueduct) leading to the infinite fountain of wealth.

4. Unglamorous Reality and AI-Driven Solutions

Chita's eyes sparkled. "I see! I will become a great business owner who grasps unexpected opportunities while enjoying unpredictable harmony, just like Ryoma!"

Rachel brought her black tea to her mouth with plenty of composure and declared with a cool face. "That spirit is wonderful. But Chita, first let's do something about that error-ridden Python script you have at hand."

"Yikes! The automated delivery system is down! And the server repair costs are being billed at double the price!?"

"Come on, fix it quickly. There is no such thing as working for free in life. Keep Going."

No matter how grand a dream you envision, the reality in front of you is unglamorous. However, even if the universe decides the outcome, miracles only happen to those who take action. Updating the tools at hand with AI, we take steps of trial and error once again today.
